Learning never stops, and neither do we.Through Lend-A-Hand Tutoring, we provide free one-to-one tutoring and mentoring to students from two public charter schools in Chicago: the Montessori School of Englewood and the Betty Shabazz Academy in the Greater Grand Crossing community. The students meet with their tutors every week at the Chicago Bar Association for literacy-focused sessions. More than 80 percent of our volunteers are lawyers.

Lend-A-Hand Tutoring at the CBA is taking on new volunteers through December for our one-to-one tutoring program. Tutors can come on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at The Chicago Bar Association (321 S. Plymouth Court). The program is sponsored by Lawyers Lend-A-Hand to Youth, but you do NOT have to be a lawyer to participate.

For a glimpse into the meaningful personal bonds Lend-A-Hand tutors can develop with students, watch the video below: Darwin Fletcher, a student in his final year of Lend-A-Hand Tutoring, recently exchanged letters with his tutor of seven years, Bernadette McNicholas of Davis Friedman, LLP. "I've known her for seven years," says Darwin, "I always had her back, she always had my back."
