Lend-A-Hand Tutoring at the CBA
Lend-A-Hand Tutoring at the CBA provides free one-to-one tutoring to 50 students from the Englewood community on the south side of Chicago. All our students attend one of our partner public schools: Montessori School of Englewood or Bond Elementary School.
Tutoring is on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. during the school year at the Chicago Bar Association (CBA). The school transports the students downtown to the CBA.
Our tutoring program has a focus on literacy, and each student-tutor pair receive an individualized reading plan to work on each week. Because many of our students have a learning difference, we strive to use instructional methods and materials with them that are appropriate for their learning needs. While most of our volunteer tutors come from the legal community, you do not have to be an attorney to tutor. For more information on volunteering, please contact LLAH Executive Director Kathryn McCabe at [email protected] or (773) 350-0961 . |
